== Purpose ==
A connection article is a trail — a guided path from something known to something less known. It is not a knowledge entry (that belongs on the wiki). It is not a personal essay (though it may be personal). It is a structured exploration of how two or more domains relate.

Every connection article follows this template so readers know what to expect, and so the honesty of the connection is visible from the first sentence.
----

== 1. Article Header ==
Every connection article begins with a standard header block:

text
Title: [The name of the trail]
Author: [Your name or pseudonym]
Date: [Date published]
Connection Types: [#Historical Influence] [#Structural Resonance] [#Intuitive Connection]
Linked Entries: [Wiki entry 1], [Wiki entry 2], [Wiki entry 3]
Status: [Draft / Complete / Disputed]
Why this matters: The reader knows immediately what kind of connection they are about to read, and which knowledge entries it draws on. No surprises.
----

== 2. Section 1 — The Known ==
Purpose: Establish the factual starting point.

What to include:

* A clear statement of the first idea, text, or event
* A link to the relevant wiki entry for full context
* A short summary of what is documented

Tone: Neutral, descriptive, sourced.

Example:
The Lokāyata school of ancient India held that only direct perception is a reliable source of knowledge. It rejected the authority of the Vedas, the existence of an afterlife, and the notion of a soul. Its original texts are almost entirely lost; we know its positions mainly through the writings of its opponents.
Length: 1–3 paragraphs.
----

== 3. Section 2 — The Other Known ==
Purpose: Establish the second idea, text, or event.

What to include:

* A clear statement of the second domain
* A link to the relevant wiki entry
* A short summary of what is documented

Tone: Same as Section 1 — neutral, descriptive, sourced.

Example:
Quantum mechanics, as developed in the 20th century, shows that the act of measurement affects the state of the system being measured. In certain interpretations, this challenges the assumption that a system has definite properties independent of observation.
Length: 1–3 paragraphs.
----

== 4. Section 3 — The Connection ==
Purpose: This is the heart of the article. Here you state the connection between the two knowns — and you label its type.

Structure:

=== 4a. State the connection ===
One or two sentences that clearly state what the connection is.

Example:
Both Lokāyata and certain interpretations of quantum mechanics challenge the assumption of an observer-independent reality. But they arrive at this challenge from entirely different directions, and there is no evidence that one influenced the other.

=== 4b. Label the connection type ===
State explicitly which of the three types this is:

*
#Historical Influence
— documented transmission
*
#Structural Resonance
— similar pattern, no proven contact
*
#Intuitive Connection
— your personal insight

Example:
This is a #Structural Resonance, not a historical influence. The two ideas share a pattern — skepticism toward fixed, observer-independent reality — but there is no evidence that Lokāyata influenced quantum theory or vice versa.

=== 4c. Explain the connection ===
Expand on what the connection is and why it matters. This is where you do your real work.

What to include:

* What specifically is similar
* What specifically is different
* Why the connection is worth noticing
* What it does and does not imply

Length: 3–6 paragraphs.
----

== 5. Section 4 — The Gap ==
Purpose: Acknowledge what is not known.

What to include:

* What evidence is missing
* What questions remain open
* What you are not claiming

Tone: Honest, humble, clear.

Example:
We do not know how the Lokāyata thinkers would have responded to quantum mechanics, or whether the structural similarity would have seemed meaningful to them. We also do not know whether the pattern holds under all interpretations of quantum theory — only under some. This article does not claim that Lokāyata anticipated quantum mechanics. It claims only that the two share a pattern worth examining.
Why this matters: This section is what separates a trail from a claim. It protects you from overreach and builds trust with the reader.

Length: 1–2 paragraphs.
----

== 6. Section 5 — The Invitation ==
Purpose: Leave the reader with a question, not a conclusion.

What to include:

* An open question for the reader
* An invitation to explore further
* A link to related entries or trails

Tone: Open, inviting, non-demanding.

Example:
Does this pattern appear elsewhere — in other traditions, other sciences, other dreams? If you have seen it, or if you have doubts, the wiki is open. Add a source, propose a connection, or write a response.
Why this matters: The article does not end with a demand for agreement. It ends with an open door.

Length: 1 short paragraph.
----

== 7. Section 6 — Sources and Links ==
Purpose: Provide the references that support the article.

What to include:

* Full citations for any sources referenced
* Links to the wiki entries used
* Links to related connection articles
* A note on AI assistance, if any

Example:

text

== 10. What This Template Does Not Do ==

* It does not require you to prove the connection. It requires you to label it honestly.
* It does not require you to be neutral about the connection. It requires you to distinguish your interpretation from the facts.
* It does not require you to conclude. It requires you to leave an open question.
* It does not suppress disagreement. It invites it, in the gap and invitation sections.

----A few notes on this template:

# The header block makes the connection type visible before the reader begins, which sets honest expectations.
# Sections 1 and 2 are deliberately parallel — "The Known" and "The Other Known" — so the reader sees both domains treated equally.
# Section 4 (The Gap) is the most important section for building trust. It is where you state what you are ''not'' claiming.
# Section 5 (The Invitation) ends with a question, not a conclusion, which keeps the article open and non-dogmatic.
